It’s the end of an era y’all. I moved out of the cozy pleasant ridge studio into a stunning, but very different space in the really lovely neighborhood of Mt. Healthy. It has so many perks over the old space, but the warm little room where I made so many friends will always be in my heart. I’ll be sharing more about the new studio soon, but I wanted to reminisce on one of the last sessions I’m able to share from that space.

For those of you who didn’t know- It was 425 square feet in total. A lot of my clients were shocked at the art we were able to create in that space. Honestly it involved a ton of shuffling around to get as much variety as I did in every shoot. Our new studio is more than 4xs that size- so I have so much more room to create. I still love it, and now that it’s gone (spoiler alert, it’s actually rented out to an amazing acrobat friend teaching aerial arts now!) the photos feel like a time capsule.

This babe came in and blew me out of the water- she also wore some of my favorite pieces from the studio wardrobe. How previous is that heart cut out?

Some people become doctors, teachers, or politicians, some throw themselves into the world of finance or sales, and some run full steam into the sciences. These practical jobs have their place on this Earth and I’m grateful to every single person who chooses any of the aforementioned career paths (and all the ones I didn’t name). I’ll be the first to admit that boudoir photography isn’t exactly “practical,” and that it might even be misunderstood by some. But there’s one thing I know from personal experience doing this work: it changes lives. 

It’s no secret that women, specifically, face a brutal and judgmental world. One filled with marketing images of airbrushed “perfection,” and marketing ploys to become “better” through diet, supplements, gym memberships, and more. Baring all in front of the camera — literally — may seem like a way to highlight every self-perceived flaw that women are taught to believe about themselves, but I’m here to tell you that a boudoir session has the complete opposite effect for my clients. 

Boudoir sessions empower women. They give them space to unleash their curves, to forget about all the marketing noise, to celebrate their bodies in a way they’ve never done before. I may not have a “practical” job that saves literal lives or educates our children, but just like I value those careers I think — no, I know — there’s value in what I do as a boudoir photographer, too. The proof? Every women who steps in front of my camera and walks away feeling more sure of herself and more beautiful than ever before.

We had the wonderful Miss M. in the studio this past weekend. She totally rocked her session! We loved her dramatic hair and makeup that Becci created for her. It totally helped her feel like a goddess, and when you feel good it translates into your photos. It's been awhile since we've done a behind the scenes video, so we thought we'd share one of our recent shoots! Billie had an amazing marathon session with us this October. Her photos turned out stunning, and we're so proud of this set! We especially loved being able to share her session because she's wearing exclusively pieces from the Roar Boudoir wardrobe. We're always expanding the offerings we can let clients borrow for the shoot! 

Miss R. came to us to give her future husband the ultimate groom's gift for her recent wedding. We had a blast creating some seriously sexy looks to put into the album she gave her betrothed the day of their wedding. We love going a bit dark and moody when a client allows- Miss R. was a total blonde bombshell at her photoshoot. She loved her photos, and agreed to allow us to share some here on the blog. Thank you for letting us show everyone else how amazing you look! 

You might also notice that the website and logo have changed a bit! We're always striving to be a better, more creative, more exciting company here at Roar Boudoir. Now that we've been in the boudoir business for three, nearly four years, we were ready for a bit of an update. Whatever our look we're still delivering some of the most beautiful boudoir photography in the Cincinnati area, from our studio is still located in our beloved neighborhood of Pleasant Ridge. Even though we're slammed in the middle of bridal season, we're trying to get caught up on our blog posts. We had the lovely Miss J join us in the studio for a session recently. She rocked it out and created some amazing images. Thank you Miss J for letting us share some of your beautiful photos! 

We're so honored that Miss L let us share some of the images from her session! She's also a fellow woman who runs a business. We connected on not only our the struggles and joys of running your own business as women but how important it is to take care of yourself and appreciate that womanhood. Her shots turned out beautiful, and we're so happy we get to show our blog readers as well. Thank you so much Miss L! 

We had such a blast with Miss M. She gave us all kinds of different but equally sexy looks during her shoot! Those beautiful baby blues don't hurt either! Thank you for letting us share some of your amazing set! 

Miss C. had scheduled a shoot with us pretty far in advance. She was excited and ready for the session up until about the week before. She had some bad news come up and emailed us about canceling her session. She told us her self-confidence was really low and she didn't think she was up to it. We urged her to reconsider and she reluctantly agreed to do the shoot. We're so glad she did! Not only did love her photos, and was amazed about how awesome she felt about herself and her body after she viewed the photos. "You guys were totally right!" She said viewing each amazing image after amazing image. Another added bonus is that we gained an awesome friend, hot off what we hope will be the first of many nights where we share a bottle of wine. We love it when clients turn into good friends! 

Miss S. came to us to schedule a session for herself. She's endured body image issues for a long time and thought that doing a boudoir shoot would be a step towards loving herself more, and we couldn't agree more! We were elated to help her on her self-image journey! Roar Boudoir believes in body positivity and practice it in all our photo shoots. We want your photos to look like you, and help you see that your body is beautiful just the way it is; Miss S. is no exception. She was so wonderful and easy to photograph! We are so pleased with the outcome of her shoot, and are even happier she's letting us share how beautiful they are with you!

Our recent session included one of my favorite things, literature! We love incorporating little props that are special to our clients, and our client's partners.

One of the best parts of this job is meeting people outside your social circle. Lauren is such a great example of that! She's another local business woman who we totally clicked with as soon as she arrived. She even brought us the most amazing gifts. Her shoot went so well! We have so many amazing photos to share with you.

She just tied the knot, and gave her hubby some of our products. Her photos made such a good gift for the lucky groom leading up to your wedding. Celebrate the beauty of your body!  Thanks so much for giving us permission to share Lauren!

Ashley was nervous before her shoot, not that you can tell by her photos. Sometimes it can be very head to get into the right mindset to do your boudoir session. It's easy to let your self doubt and body insecurities get the better you. After taking a couple shots I shower her the first photo below. She said something akin to "How are you making me look like that?" To which I responded, "It's not that hard when you already do look like that, I couldn't show you something that wasn't there!". It's really true, sometimes it can really take an outside eye for a woman to understand how beautiful she really is! As women, we can be totally, devastatingly, hard on ourselves -  often for no good reason at all. Like Ashley, I promise you're beautiful too, even if you don't realize it at this second. 

I'm so glad ashley was willing to let us share these photos with you, and I hope you can appreciate her beauty as much as we do!
