I’ll be honest, I actually hated the idea of these sessions. Not because they weren’t going to be beautiful, but because my Virgo rising shuddered at the thought of clean up. Sure, we could do these outside- but anyone who really knows me knows that I also hate being at the whims of the weather. So with a lot of taped down tarps I’m trying my best not to let the glitter fallout get to me. Honestly, I’m glad I did. I LOVE this mini session so much!

I get a lot of email on when the right time to book your session is and I have some pretty easy rules to follow on regards to timing your boudoir session. So here we go with a blog post, and some stunning photos of a recent boudoir babe we had studio to keep your attention.
First question I have is, do you have a deadline? Ideally for wedding Is say to give yourself a month out from your celebration to give us, without a doubt, plenty of time to get your album to your before your session. Also a month allows you not to feel relaxed- there’s lots of finalizing before your big day. Are you going to want to give these for a holiday like valentine’s day or Christmas? Check to see our cut off deadlines for those dates by emailing using the contact form at the bottom of this page. Most of the time for holidays we recommend shooting the month before your date. Have something that’s like an anniversary or special date that’s not a holiday? Two weeks minimum is requested to make sure we get your product in hand before your deadline.
Does it take me the whole qouted two week turnaround time for editing to email you your gallery for viewing? Usually not. Do I think it’s a smart idea to plan ahead and make sure we aren’t cutting it too close- absolutely!
Once you receive your gallery you’ll have the option to purchase printed items. Our product packages and prints take 2-3 days to create and we fed ex group ship directly to you. In total from ordering it take anywhere from 4-6 days to received your product package or prints items. Add on items often take longer, but that depends on their current production times. As always if you have a deadline and you’re worried about meeting it contact us!
In summary, here’s a handy break down of our recommended booking times:
Weddings - 1 month minimum
Holiday giving- Usually you would want to shoot the month before teh holiday. There might be special deadlines for Christmas and Valentine’s day, so please check with us using the contact form.
Anniversaries and birthdays- 2-3 weeks
Regular turn around times to receive your viewing galleries- 2 weeks
Times to receive product packages after viewing galleries - 4-6 days
I adore our flower child mini session- but have to be honest- it’s not our most popular mini session offering. That being said I was so incredibly excited when this babe booked it! Love the energy she brought to this set!
Some people become doctors, teachers, or politicians, some throw themselves into the world of finance or sales, and some run full steam into the sciences. These practical jobs have their place on this Earth and I’m grateful to every single person who chooses any of the aforementioned career paths (and all the ones I didn’t name). I’ll be the first to admit that boudoir photography isn’t exactly “practical,” and that it might even be misunderstood by some. But there’s one thing I know from personal experience doing this work: it changes lives.
It’s no secret that women, specifically, face a brutal and judgmental world. One filled with marketing images of airbrushed “perfection,” and marketing ploys to become “better” through diet, supplements, gym memberships, and more. Baring all in front of the camera — literally — may seem like a way to highlight every self-perceived flaw that women are taught to believe about themselves, but I’m here to tell you that a boudoir session has the complete opposite effect for my clients.
Boudoir sessions empower women. They give them space to unleash their curves, to forget about all the marketing noise, to celebrate their bodies in a way they’ve never done before. I may not have a “practical” job that saves literal lives or educates our children, but just like I value those careers I think — no, I know — there’s value in what I do as a boudoir photographer, too. The proof? Every women who steps in front of my camera and walks away feeling more sure of herself and more beautiful than ever before.

We never share your images unless you want us to! We have several options on the level of sharing you’d like to do from keeping everything private, to sharing images where your face is cropped, to just outright sharing. Whatever you pick is totally cool with us! This babe wanted to share her images anonymously.
As a glasses wearer myself I’m always excited when ladies rock the “badass babe in glasses” look. This beauty blew me out of the water with her confidence and sex appeal!

The Covid19 pandemic has left me searching for ways to keep the studio open. Financial assistance is the US has been slow to get to small businesses and has been running out of funds at every turn. But self employed people all over the country have been pivoting and trying to find ways to keep their businesses open. For me, that’s where virtual boudoir shoots have entered into what I’m offering at my studio.
It’s been a strange lesson in giving up a bit of control. Which as a total type a creative hasn’t been easy. I can say that opening up this new form of boudoir has been so rewarding for me while Ohio has been shelter in place. It’s allowed me to pay the rent for the studio while I can’t work in person. It’s kept me connected to my community and most importantly lets me keep empowering women all over the world.

Nervous about your boudoir session? We’ve got you! When you book we send you all the best information on how to prepare for your photoshoot. We know that posing in your underwear, or less, can be intimidating. Here’s just a small snippet of the information we share with you!
This is the best time to finalize wardrobe. Go through your lingerie and try it on, decide if you want to purchase any fun new pieces, or decide if you want to borrow from our wardrobe.
“Let me stress that you do not need to come to your shoot with lingerie to have an amazing session. We have a boudoir wardrobe in our studio from sizes XXS to 5XL. We will find something in our closets that looks amazing on your body!”
All lingerie in our wardrobe is worn with sanitary liners or clients own nude thong and cleaned after use. We also send you a visual guide on what lingerie we think photographs best if you’re looking to treat yourself with some new lacy underthings!
Roots need touched up? Are you the kind of person who likes their nails done? Now would be the time to get that done! If you’re not big on polished fingers and toes, just come in with bare nails. Alternatively if you’re the kind of person who rocks a chipped edgy set feel free to be true to your own personal style! Now would also be the time to really pamper your skin. When you’re posing in lingerie you have so much more skin on display than you do everyday. Drink all the water, apply lotion a few times a day, exfoliate with a sugar scrub during a hot shower- really pamper your skin! If your preference is to remove body hair, we recommending shaving or waxing a few days before your photoshoot to let your skin have a little recovery time and to avoid razor burn.
Pack up everything you’d like to bring to your photoshoot. We always say we don’t mind if you overpack. We’d rather have more variety than less. All our shoots come with hair and makeup services. Plan on arriving in comfy clothes that won’t leave marks on your skin. You can roll out of your bed and show up in your PJ’s if you’d like and our hair and makeup artist will take care of glamming you up!
We also recommend trying to not overdo it the night before. This is not the time to drink a bit too much or overdo it with physical activity. While all of our clients are able to do some variation of our posing, it often uses muscles that you aren’t used to holding at certain angles and is made all that much harder when you’re sore. Netflix and hydration are probably the best night before plans you can have for your boudoir shoot!

Of course this is all just a recommendation. Sometimes our best laid plans don’t turn out quite how we expect. Even if you come into the studio off a bender, with razor burn and no lingerie we can make it work for you. If your a planner like me the information we send out will help you prepare your mind, and possibly soothe your anxiety.

I always wanted to be a pilot, but fun fact I have a eye that doesn’t work so well so I wouldn’t pass the vision test. Good thing you only need one eye for the viewfinder of a camera right?

A lot of my clients at Roar Boudoir turn into friends. Sometimes I meet a client whose just a little left of center, like me. When you get an email asking if they can bring, and be photographed with a bucket of fried chicken you book that shoot ASAP. Miss C. was seriously so amazing to have in the studio. Miss S. came to us wanting a gift to her partner, that would also double as a gift to herself. She was so sweet in the studio! We were so happy to get be able to get so many amazing images. We love helping brides give their grooms the ultimate grooms gift. What can be better than giving him something you already know he wants? This green eyed beauty came into the studio looking for exactly that. She absolutely rocked her session, even though she said the very idea of this session was outside of her comfort zone. We were there to guide her every step of the way- from how to hold her mouth in the right shape to where to point her toes. You do not need to consider yourself sexy to be able to do a boudoir session! You'll totally feel that way after we reveal your images to you though. We will help you find your best lighting, angles and poses. Even the most nervous of clients tell us that our shoots feel like they're just hanging out with a bunch of girlfriends. We promise to make it fun!
This year we set the goal of doing at least one traveling shoot. I'm very pleased to say that we had a blast in Durham, NC recently. Although we don't often stray from our studio, it was refreshing to shoot in a completely new space. We meet some lovely local ladies who came in for shoots and got to experience a whole new city.
