Margarita was the picture of elegance at her white sheets mini session. I love the simplicity of this set, it’s truly timeless. She also wore this stunning mini dress instead of lingerie, you can wear whatever makes you comfortable during your session!
I’ve been getting a few emails recntly about people asking if our studio does bridal boudoir— This is so interesting to me because back when I opened Roar brides were basically our only clients! There’s been a huge cultural shift to where you don’t need to be giving boudoir photos as a gift anymore to have an excuse to do them, but we totally still shoot brides! One of the caveats with shooting for brides though is that we don’t have a ton of images to share, most choose to keep their photos private and for their partners. Keeping images private isn’t ever an issue for us! I thought I’d grab a few photos of some recent bridal to shots.
A bridal boudoir session is usually just like one of our regular sessions, though maybe we add a viel for an outfit change, or you include your ring or bridal shoes. We have had a few clients bring in their gown for a “getting ready” kind of boudoir shot. I’m flexible and can make whatever your bridal boudoir dreams might be come true!
I’ll be honest, I actually hated the idea of these sessions. Not because they weren’t going to be beautiful, but because my Virgo rising shuddered at the thought of clean up. Sure, we could do these outside- but anyone who really knows me knows that I also hate being at the whims of the weather. So with a lot of taped down tarps I’m trying my best not to let the glitter fallout get to me. Honestly, I’m glad I did. I LOVE this mini session so much!
It’s the end of an era y’all. I moved out of the cozy pleasant ridge studio into a stunning, but very different space in the really lovely neighborhood of Mt. Healthy. It has so many perks over the old space, but the warm little room where I made so many friends will always be in my heart. I’ll be sharing more about the new studio soon, but I wanted to reminisce on one of the last sessions I’m able to share from that space.
For those of you who didn’t know- It was 425 square feet in total. A lot of my clients were shocked at the art we were able to create in that space. Honestly it involved a ton of shuffling around to get as much variety as I did in every shoot. Our new studio is more than 4xs that size- so I have so much more room to create. I still love it, and now that it’s gone (spoiler alert, it’s actually rented out to an amazing acrobat friend teaching aerial arts now!) the photos feel like a time capsule.
This babe came in and blew me out of the water- she also wore some of my favorite pieces from the studio wardrobe. How previous is that heart cut out?
I adore our flower child mini session- but have to be honest- it’s not our most popular mini session offering. That being said I was so incredibly excited when this babe booked it! Love the energy she brought to this set!

I get a number of questions about my VIP Boudoir club Roar Society, so I thought I’d take a quick second to give you the run down. My VIP Boudoir club is simply a private closed group (a “club” if you will) that consists of current, past, and future boudoir clients. It’s a safe space for you to ask questions and share inspirational images or stories, to collaborate and bond with other women who are just like you. All members of Roar Society are women.
I’ll also use this group to post upcoming mini session dates, specials, and to get feedback on new ideas for my studio regarding locations, props, new products, and even editing styles. We never share your images unless you want us to! We have several options on the level of sharing you’d like to do from keeping everything private, to sharing images where your face is cropped, to just outright sharing. Whatever you pick is totally cool with us! This babe wanted to share her images anonymously.

Nervous about your boudoir session? We’ve got you! When you book we send you all the best information on how to prepare for your photoshoot. We know that posing in your underwear, or less, can be intimidating. Here’s just a small snippet of the information we share with you!
This is the best time to finalize wardrobe. Go through your lingerie and try it on, decide if you want to purchase any fun new pieces, or decide if you want to borrow from our wardrobe.
“Let me stress that you do not need to come to your shoot with lingerie to have an amazing session. We have a boudoir wardrobe in our studio from sizes XXS to 5XL. We will find something in our closets that looks amazing on your body!”
All lingerie in our wardrobe is worn with sanitary liners or clients own nude thong and cleaned after use. We also send you a visual guide on what lingerie we think photographs best if you’re looking to treat yourself with some new lacy underthings!
Roots need touched up? Are you the kind of person who likes their nails done? Now would be the time to get that done! If you’re not big on polished fingers and toes, just come in with bare nails. Alternatively if you’re the kind of person who rocks a chipped edgy set feel free to be true to your own personal style! Now would also be the time to really pamper your skin. When you’re posing in lingerie you have so much more skin on display than you do everyday. Drink all the water, apply lotion a few times a day, exfoliate with a sugar scrub during a hot shower- really pamper your skin! If your preference is to remove body hair, we recommending shaving or waxing a few days before your photoshoot to let your skin have a little recovery time and to avoid razor burn.
Pack up everything you’d like to bring to your photoshoot. We always say we don’t mind if you overpack. We’d rather have more variety than less. All our shoots come with hair and makeup services. Plan on arriving in comfy clothes that won’t leave marks on your skin. You can roll out of your bed and show up in your PJ’s if you’d like and our hair and makeup artist will take care of glamming you up!
We also recommend trying to not overdo it the night before. This is not the time to drink a bit too much or overdo it with physical activity. While all of our clients are able to do some variation of our posing, it often uses muscles that you aren’t used to holding at certain angles and is made all that much harder when you’re sore. Netflix and hydration are probably the best night before plans you can have for your boudoir shoot!

Of course this is all just a recommendation. Sometimes our best laid plans don’t turn out quite how we expect. Even if you come into the studio off a bender, with razor burn and no lingerie we can make it work for you. If your a planner like me the information we send out will help you prepare your mind, and possibly soothe your anxiety.

This beautiful babe came for some classic glam in our private studio. Her day job is totally bad ass. She’s a mechanic for planes and seems to be damn good at it! I always wanted to be a pilot, but fun fact I have a eye that doesn’t work so well so I wouldn’t pass the vision test. Good thing you only need one eye for the viewfinder of a camera right?

This beautiful woman came in to the studio not long after giving birth to her little bundle of joy. No matter what body you have, childbirth can be a total body change and is hard for a lot of women to deal with. We want you to know that we’re here to help you on the path to loving yourself again. Miss E. wanted the perfect Christmas present for her husband, and did she ever deliver. We had so many clients come in this holiday season to create stunning gifts for themselves and their partners this year. It’s one of my favorite “busy seasons” for the studio. I know that Miss. I don’t get to do as many maternity sessions as I would like to do. A boudoir session with our milk bath set is an amazing way to capture your beautiful changing body. At the studio we totally understand that sometimes it can be hard to feel sexy during pregnancy and we want to help show you that you already are. Not only will you get sexy yet classy images that you won’t be shy to share, you’ll get a confidence boost and a little pampering before you’re bundle of joy arrives. Miss R. road-tripped it to us from a few hours away, and I’m so glad sh did! Miss R. is using these images during her baby shower, which I love! A lot of my clients at Roar Boudoir turn into friends. Sometimes I meet a client whose just a little left of center, like me. When you get an email asking if they can bring, and be photographed with a bucket of fried chicken you book that shoot ASAP. Miss C. was seriously so amazing to have in the studio. I hope she comes back with another, out there, yet awesome request. She was gracious enough to let me share her images, I think they turned out beautifully!
We love helping brides give their grooms the ultimate grooms gift. What can be better than giving him something you already know he wants? This green eyed beauty came into the studio looking for exactly that. She absolutely rocked her session, even though she said the very idea of this session was outside of her comfort zone. We were there to guide her every step of the way- from how to hold her mouth in the right shape to where to point her toes. You do not need to consider yourself sexy to be able to do a boudoir session! You'll totally feel that way after we reveal your images to you though. We will help you find your best lighting, angles and poses. Even the most nervous of clients tell us that our shoots feel like they're just hanging out with a bunch of girlfriends. We promise to make it fun!
This year we set the goal of doing at least one traveling shoot. I'm very pleased to say that we had a blast in Durham, NC recently. Although we don't often stray from our studio, it was refreshing to shoot in a completely new space. We meet some lovely local ladies who came in for shoots and got to experience a whole new city.
